Case Study
This case study explores Future Ready Collier’s foundations and reasons for success. Themes include strategic partnership, trust and cooperation, sustainability, the importance of metrics alongside the myriad ways in which success can be quantified, innovation and adaptation, balancing infrastructure with mutual ownership, and the necessity of long-term jointly held purpose.
Mapping Collier County:
An Early Learning Systems Landscape Analysis
Through the Future Ready Collier network of partners, Naples Children & Education Foundation funded an early learning planning process with the goal of developing a framework to leverage resources in support of school readiness for children in Collier County. Through the research partnership with University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning and The Anita Zucker Center for Early Childhood Studies, a comprehensive landscape analysis and planning process resulted in Mapping Collier County: An Early Learning Systems Landscape Analysis, released in June 2019. Cost Study
The purpose of this study was to determine the cost to ensure that three- and four-year olds in southwest Florida are prepared for kindergarten. Augenblick, Palaich, and Associates (APA), an education consulting firm with expertise in both costing out methodologies and early childhood education, was hired to conduct this study. Specifically, APA was asked to estimate the gap between existing early childhood education (ECE) funding and the costs of preparing three- and four-year olds for kindergarten. Early childhood educators in five southwest Florida counties (Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties) participated in and contributed substantially to the data collected in this study.
