We welcome Dr. Brittany Birken of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta to discuss “Barriers to Economic Mobility for Low Income Working Families with Young Children” and potential strategies to reduce poverty and education gaps. After viewing her presentation earlier this year, an FRC strategic leader turned back to FRC raving about Dr. Birken’s work and instantly realized the relevance to our conversations. He commented:

The data, the tables and the tool presented are all very powerful and clear ways to expand understanding of the challenges facing career pathways choices.”

Dr. Birken is bringing her tools and insights to Southwest Florida, but not for the first time. She has worked in family and youth development in Florida for several years, and is familiar with the work of Future Ready Collier. We are excited to bring this opportunity to build upon your knowledge base and expand your own tool set.
